A 2.5kb region, containing the promoter region and exons 1 and 2, was replaced by a neomycin selection cassette. The deleted region encoded the start codon and the ATP-binding domain. Northern and Western blot analyses of testicular tissue showed a lack of transcript and protein in homozygous mutant mice. (J:57312)
