A genomic fragment containing promoter elements, multiple transcription start sites and most of exon 1 was replaced by a neomycin selection gene. RT-PCR analysis confirmed that no detectable transcript was present in gonads of homozygous mice. Immunostaining on ovary sections of homozygous mice confirmed that no protein was produced from this allele. (J:66817)
