A neomycin resistance gene under the control of a GTI-II promoter replaced a region encoding the first 6 amino acids, including the initiator-methionine, and a portion of the proximal promoter. Northern blot analyis confirmed a lack of transcript in heart, liver, and kidney tissue obtained from homozygous mutant mice. An absence of protein expression was determined homozygous mutant MEFs via Western blot analysis. (J:72651)
