87 nucleotides of exon 9 were replaced with a neomycin resistance gene via homologous recombination. Northern blot of gene transcripts from ovaries of homozygous mutant animals verified the absence of exon 9 and enzyme assay detected negligible levels of enzyme activity. (J:70359)
