Exon 1 of this gene was replaced with a neomycin resistance gene via homologous recombination, resulting in a truncated protein deleted for transmembrane domains 1-2 as well as a large portion of the extracellular region. Transcripts including exon 1 were not expressed in kidney and liver of homozygous mutant animals as assayed by Northern blot. (J:74276)
