A targeting vector inserted into intron 1, instead of replacing exon 2 by homologous recombination. Northern blot analysis on RNA derived from embryonic brain, lung and kidney demonstrated that a reduced level of normal transcript was produced from this allele, and that the amounts expressed were tissue dependent.
