The mutation in the minute mouse was shown to be an inversion, whose breakpoint distal to H19 disrupts an enhancer for Igf2 expression in skeletal muscle and tongue, and separates the gene from other mesodermal and extra-embryonic enhancers. The phenotype of the minute mouse is varying depending on maternal or paternal inheritence. (J:75952)
