A neomycin resistance gene replaced a genomic DNA fragment containing exon M3, which encodes a putative transmembrane segment. In situ hybridization analysis on brain of homozygous mice demonstrated that no normal transcript was produced from this allele. Western blot analysis on total cerebellar proteins derived from homozygous mice confirmed that no detectable protein was expressed from this allele. (J:24975)
