A neomycin selection cassette was inserted into exon 11 at position 6038. RT-PCR analysis on RNA derived from homozygous animals demonstrated that a partial transcript is made from this allele. Western blot analysis confirmed that no protein with an intact carboxy-terminus was expressed from this allele, but the authors do not rule out the possiblilty that a partial product could be made.
