Insertion of a PGK-neomycin resistance cassette into exon 5 disrupted the gene. Northern analysis using a rat cDNA probe did not detect wild-type mRNA in liver from homozygous mutant mice. Neither western blot analysis nor simple radial immunodiffusion assay detected protein in sera from homozygous mutant mice. (J:52225)
