A neomycin resistance cassette replaced sequences encoding amino acids 1399-1518 in the intracellular domain, including sequences encoding a conserved CAQYWP motif present in the first PTPase catalytic domain. Northern blot analysis of brain using a probe corresponding to nt 320-1201 of the cDNA sequence did not detect transcript in homozygous mutant newborn mice. Western blot analysis did not detect protein in brain from homozygous mutant newborn mice. (J:53434)
