A 300 bp DNA fragment containing part of exon 1 was replaced with an IRES-lacZ gene followed by a neomycin selection cassette. Northern blot and western blot analysis on chondrocytes derived from heterozygous mice demonstrated reduced expression of both the encoded transcript and protein. (J:69875, J:75041)
