A DNA fragment containing exons 2-4 of the human APOE gene (the APOE2 isoform) replaced an equivalent portion of the mouse Apoe gene. Western blot analysis on plasma derived from homozygous mice demonstrated that the human protein was expressed from this allele and the endogenous mouse protein was not detectable. (J:48565)
