Insertion of a neomycin resistance cassette into exon 3, which encodes the Asp residue of the serine protease active center, disrupted the gene. Northern blot analyses of fat, muscle, lung, and liver did not detect message in homozygous mutant mice. Western blot analysis did not detect protein in homozygous mutant mouse sera. (J:73125)
