A neomycin selection cassette replaced part of intron 12 and part of the testis-specific exon. These sequences included the testis specific promoter and the testis specific translational start site. Expression of the somatic isoform of the protein is also disrupted. Protein activity assays confirmed the absence of functional protein in serum, lung, kidney and testis in homozygous mice. (J:33018)
