A genomic fragment containing exons 3 and 4 was deleted and replaced with a neomycin selection cassette. These sequences encode the first putative transmembrane segment and flanking sequences. This mutation also introduces a frameshift and any protein produced from this allele is predicted to be nonfunctional. (J:39804)
