A neomycin resistance cassette was inserted into the exon that encodes the homeobox sequences of the protein. A mutant transcript consisting of neomycin sequences fused to 3' gene sequences was produced, but stop codons in the neomycin gene are predicted to prevent expression of protien from this allele.
