Insertion of an IRES-GFP-PGK-neomycin resistance cassette into the exon encoding the NHR-2 region of the protein disrupted the gene and introduced transcriptional termination sequences downstream of the GFP coding sequences. Northern analyses of brain and skeletal muscle of homozygous mutant mice detected only aberrant transcripts using a 5' probe, and did not detect transcript using a 3' probe. (J:72105)
