Insertion of a PGK-neomycin resistance cassette into the first protein coding exon replaced the first protein coding region including the ATG initiation region and the splice donor sequences. RNA probes generated from exon 8 sequences did not detect message in taste receptor cells of homozygous mutant mice. (J:36885)
