A ~1 kb genomic fragment containing 84 bp of exon 2 was replaced with a neomycin selection cassette. These sequences encode a portion of the pro-polypeptide region. RNAse protection assays on total RNA derived from kidney and brain of homozygous mice demonstrated that no detectable transcript was produced from this allele. (J:48561)
