A ~10 kb genomic fragment containing exons 1-6 was replaced with a hygromycin selection cassette inserted in reverse transcriptional orientation. These sequences encode five ankyrin repeats of the protein. Western blot analysis on spleen lysates derived from homozygous mice confirmed that no detectable protein was produced from this allele.
