A neomycin resistance cassette replaced the translation initiation site and its downstream sequence in exon 2. Northern blot analysis and western blot analysis confirmed the absence of expression from this allele (data not shown). Immunocytochemical studies did not detect protein in hippocampal coronal sections of homozygous mutant adult mice. (J:34606)
