A 1.3kb SstI-BamHI segment containing exons 8 and 9 was replaced with a neomycin selection cassette. The 3.8-kb transcript is undetectable in RNA derived from the livers of homozygous mice by Northern blot. Western blots and enzymatic assays confirmed the absence of functional protein in homozygous mice. (J:35794)
