The random insertion of a transgene into the Morc gene also resulted in the deletion of a ~13 kb genomic fragment containing exons 2-4. The transgene contains a tyrosinase gene under the control of a polymerase (RNA) II (DNA directed) polypeptide A (Polr2a) promoter. RT-PCR analysis on RNA derived from testis of homozygous mice confirmed that no wild-type transcript was present; however an aberrant transcript containing transgene sequences fused to exon 5 and downstream sequences was expressed from this allele.
