A 0.5 kb genomic fragment containing part of exon 1 including the translation start site was replaced with a neomycin selection cassette. Northern blot analysis on RNA derived from E12.5 homozygous embryos demonstrated that no detectable transcripts were produced from this allele. Immunohistochemistry experiments on sections of spinal cord from homozygous mice confirmed that no detectable protein was made. (J:23773)
