Exon 2 was disrupted by the insertion of a lacZ gene and neomycin selection cassette. Western blot analysis on hippocampal lysates from homozygous mice demonstrated that no stable Bcl2 protein was made from this allele. A beta-galactosidase protein was produced from this allele under the control of the endogenous promoter. (J:34326, J:86581)
