A neomycin resistance cassette was inserted into the 5'-untranslated leader sequence of the gene. Southern blots of fetal tissue from homozygous mutants showed no wild-type allele present. Northern blots of embryonic fibroblasts from homozygous mutants showed no detectable mRNA for the targeted gene. (J:13175)
