A genomic fragment containing exon 4 was replaced with a neomycin selection cassette. Northern blot analysis indicated that no stable transcript was produced from this allele in homozygous mice. Expression of the Apoa1 and Apoa4 genes that lie in close proximity to Apoc3 are reduced by half in the intestine of homozygotes but not in the liver. (J:21750)
