Approximately 20 copies of a Rous sarcoma virus long terminal repeat promoter, lacZ mini gene are integrated as a head to tail concatamer at a single site on mouse chromosome 14. There is in addition a deletion of 1.24 Mb of genomic DNA at the transgene insertion site. Fndc3a is contained in the deleted region. Comparative genome analysis of the 1.2 Mb region of chromosome 14 deleted in Fndc3asys mice with human 8p21 and 13q14 suggests that Fndc3a is the only gene mutated in Fndc3asysmice. (J:119576)
