The mutation in the sex linked fidget mouse is an X chromosomal inversion with one breakpoint close to Pou3f4. This inversion selectively eliminates the expression of the Pou3f4 gene in the developing inner ear, but not the neural tube. The mutation was also shown to be allelic to Pou3f4tm1Cren. (J:59387)
