Sequencing of 5' RACE and genomic PCR products revealed that this allele resulted from the integration of an intracisternal A particle (IAP) in an antisense orientation within the 5'untranslated region of exon 1C. Methylation assay results indciate that the agouti and yellow mosaic phenotype characteristic of this allele is due to differential epigenetic methylation of the IAP. (J:31145, J:79708)
