Predicted to enable oxygen carrier activity. Involved in several processes, including negative regulation of hydrogen peroxide-induced cell death; response to iron ion; and visual perception. Located in mitochondrion; neuron projection; and perikaryon. Used to study transient cerebral ischemia.
