Located in several cellular components, including T-tubule; adherens junction; and fascia adherens. Is integral component of postsynaptic specialization membrane and integral component of presynaptic active zone membrane. Part of protein-containing complex. Is active in glutamatergic synapse. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in agenesis of corpus callosum, cardiac, ocular, and genital syndrome; arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy; and arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia 14.
