Involved in several processes, including neurogenesis; positive regulation of cellular component organization; and positive regulation of protein localization to membrane. Located in several cellular components, including apical ectoplasmic specialization; basal ectoplasmic specialization; and concave side of sperm head. Part of apical tubulobulbar complex. Is active in glutamatergic synapse and postsynapse. Colocalizes with actin filament. Used to study focal segmental glomerulosclerosis. Biomarker of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis and schizophrenia. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in opisthorchiasis. Orthologous to human ACTR3 (actin related protein 3).
