Involved in several processes, including regulation of ion transport; regulation of secretion by cell; and response to glucocorticoid. Located in several cellular components, including extracellular space; perikaryon; and varicosity. Used to study hypoglycemia and obesity. Biomarker of several diseases, including alcohol use disorder; cerebrovascular disease (multiple); extrahepatic cholestasis; sciatic neuropathy; and withdrawal disorder.
