Enables cyclin binding activity and protein kinase binding activity. Involved in alternative mRNA splicing, via spliceosome. Acts upstream of or within negative regulation of stem cell differentiation. Part of nuclear cyclin-dependent protein kinase holoenzyme complex. Is expressed in several structures, including brain; future brain; primitive streak; trophectoderm; and unsegmented mesenchyme. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in congenital heart defects, dysmorphic facial features, and intellectual developmental disorder. Orthologous to human CDK13 (cyclin dependent kinase 13).
