Enables microtubule binding activity and protein homodimerization activity. Involved in establishment or maintenance of epithelial cell apical/basal polarity; microtubule bundle formation; and positive regulation of protein targeting to membrane. Located in several cellular components, including apicolateral plasma membrane; cytoskeleton; and lateral plasma membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; cranial ganglion; limb segment; metanephros; and neural ectoderm. Orthologous to human MTCL1 (microtubule crosslinking factor 1).
