Enables SNARE binding activity; identical protein binding activity; and phospholipid binding activity. Involved in calcium-dependent activation of synaptic vesicle fusion and regulation of calcium ion-dependent exocytosis. Located in dense core granule. Is integral component of synaptic vesicle membrane. Is active in hippocampal mossy fiber to CA3 synapse. Is expressed in several structures, including adrenal gland; gonad; liver; nervous system; and spleen. Orthologous to human SYT9 (synaptotagmin 9).
