Acts upstream of or within several processes, including PERK-mediated unfolded protein response; chordate embryonic development; and regulation of gene expression. Located in endoplasmic reticulum membrane and endoplasmic reticulum-Golgi intermediate compartment. Is expressed in several structures, including cardiovascular system; early conceptus; embryo ectoderm; placenta; and trunk mesenchyme.
