Involved in several processes, including cellular response to metal ion; defense response to other organism; and positive regulation of MAPK cascade. Located in several cellular components, including astrocyte projection; axon; and rough endoplasmic reticulum. Used to study Alzheimer's disease. Biomarker of Alzheimer's disease; diabetic encephalopathy; hypertension; iron deficiency anemia; and middle cerebral artery infarction.
