Involved in several processes, including modulation of chemical synaptic transmission; neuroinflammatory response; and positive regulation of CREB transcription factor activity. Acts upstream of or within axonogenesis and long-term memory. Located in cytoplasm; glutamatergic synapse; and postsynaptic density. Is active in Schaffer collateral - CA1 synapse and hippocampal mossy fiber to CA3 synapse. Is integral component of postsynaptic density membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; genitourinary system; nervous system; respiratory system; and sensory organ.
