Enables DNA-binding transcription factor activity and sequence-specific DNA binding activity. Involved in several processes, including cellular response to hydrogen peroxide; cellular response to reactive nitrogen species; and positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Located in membrane raft and nucleus. Used to study asthma and renal fibrosis. Biomarker of asthma and myocarditis. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in lipoid nephrosis; prostate carcinoma; and urinary schistosomiasis. Orthologous to human STAT6 (signal transducer and activator of transcription 6).
