Involved in paranodal junction assembly and response to methylmercury. Located in several cellular components, including cytoskeleton; membrane raft; and neuron projection. Biomarker of transient cerebral ischemia. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in ankyrin-B-related cardiac arrhythmia; atrial fibrillation; long QT syndrome; and sick sinus syndrome.
