Involved in L-serine biosynthetic process; glycine biosynthetic process from serine; and positive regulation of cell population proliferation. Located in mitochondrial inner membrane; mitochondrial intermembrane space; and mitochondrial matrix. Orthologous to human SHMT2 (serine hydroxymethyltransferase 2).
