Involved in several processes, including metal ion transport; regulation of heart contraction; and response to purine-containing compound. Located in several cellular components, including T-tubule; Z disc; and dendrite. Is integral component of postsynaptic membrane. Used to study brain ischemia. Biomarker of brain ischemia; congestive heart failure; hypertension; and status epilepticus. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in hypertension.
