Located in several cellular components, including axon; basolateral plasma membrane; and synaptic membrane. Is active in calyx of Held. Is integral component of postsynaptic membrane and integral component of presynaptic membrane. Used to study cerebral infarction; hypertension; lung disease; and obstructive sleep apnea.
