Enables CCR5 chemokine receptor binding activity. Involved in several processes, including positive regulation of intermediate filament depolymerization; positive regulation of neural precursor cell proliferation; and response to ionizing radiation. Located in intermediate filament. Biomarker of acute kidney failure; brain infarction; brain ischemia; and nephrosis. Orthologous to human NES (nestin).
