Involved in several processes, including positive regulation of transport; regulation of heart contraction; and regulation of muscle system process. Located in cytoplasm; nucleus; and plasma membrane. Used to study congestive heart failure; dilated cardiomyopathy; myocardial infarction; periodontitis; and renovascular hypertension. Biomarker of hyperglycemia; hypertension; and type 1 diabetes mellitus. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in several diseases, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; hypertension (multiple); low tension glaucoma; obstructive sleep apnea; and periodontitis.
