Involved in several processes, including positive regulation of ERK1 and ERK2 cascade; protein phosphorylation; and regulation of vesicle-mediated transport. Located in several cellular components, including membrane raft; mitochondrion; and perinuclear region of cytoplasm. Part of protein-containing complex. Used to study hypertension. Biomarker of brain ischemia; congestive heart failure; and ischemia. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in dilated cardiomyopathy; high grade glioma (multiple); large cell carcinoma; and reproductive organ cancer (multiple).
