Enables lipid binding activity. Involved in several processes, including positive regulation of ERK1 and ERK2 cascade; response to estradiol; and response to steroid hormone. Located in extracellular space. Used to study glomerulonephritis; membranous glomerulonephritis; obesity; pneumonia; and pre-eclampsia. Biomarker of several diseases, including artery disease (multiple); cerebrovascular disease (multiple); eye disease (multiple); pneumocystosis; and sciatic neuropathy. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in several diseases, including complement deficiency (multiple); macular degeneration (multiple); paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria; sickle cell anemia; and silicosis.
